Review by hotel critic
During my recent stay at Lai Lai, I found both advantages and drawbacks to weigh in on. Nestled in the vibrant heart of Chinatown, the hotel's location proved particularly convenient for accessing local restaurants and suppliers, especially if, like me, you have commitments around Ongpin. The room was surprisingly spacious compared to the online images, featuring basic amenities such as a flat-screen TV, an electric kettle, and free Wi-Fi-though I had my share of hassles with connectivity due to local KYC laws preventing mobile connections for foreign visitors. This scenario emphasizes the importance of reliable hotel Wi-Fi. While I appreciated the cleanliness and tidiness of my room, the hotel's age was evident, pointing to a need for maintenance and repairs. Room service was adequate, yet the lack of a restaurant that offers diverse culinary options was noticeable. In terms of value, Lai Lai offers comfort close to cultural hotspots, and at a reasonable price point for the area. For those poised to indulge in luxury, seeking newer establishments with comprehensive amenities may be a more prudent option. I would consider Lai Lai again for its value, provided expectations align with its offerings.
